Energy saving week should be a wake up call to leisurely SNP progress

10.06.13am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 20th Oct 2009

Speaking at the start of Energy Saving Week, Liberal Democrat Energy and Environment spokesman Liam McArthur MSP said:

“This week should be a wake up call to the Government.

“Recent reports have made clear that progress on the Home Insulation Scheme is painfully slow. The cross-party Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee have pressed the Government for a ‘substantial increase’ in effort on the scheme.

“Households and businesses need support to help reduce the impact their homes and premises have on the environment. It is not good enough for Scottish Ministers to claim everything is under control. The facts give the lie to such complacency.

“I hope Energy Saving Week reminds Ministers why this extra effort is needed.”

Ends.
